FABRIC.A.TION (Upper Division Studio)

Architecture must be taught in the way it is practiced, as a unique endeavor. Design must seamlessly flow into fabrication, which must in turn feed back to inform design. Partnerships between forward thinking private companies and educational institutions form to capitalize on each other strengths.

The Banks: head houses and pedestrian aisle

A project on the small side (XS) of the Koolhaas scale, the pedestrian access nodes are the interface between a large underground parking and the street of a new mixed use riverfront project in Cincinnati.

Children’s Hospital North Burnet Campus

The relationship between original African motifs as those present in traditional basketry, hair arrangements and woven products and their absorption and reinterpretation within the American culture intrigued us. The winning metaphor materialized as a braid, or basket weave, a geometrical interlocking of materials and assemblies.

V.O. house

The turn of the twentieth century Victorian in its Cincinnati incarnation is a nice problem for the rehabber.
In search for the right mix of design ingredients and design approach, budget and zoning compliance, a faceted convulsion of the roof offered the most promise.

Why should we pursue fabrication at full-scale?
